5 Ways To Conceal Hair Loss

Many of us wish we can have thick, lush hair forever. But, sometimes we get the short end of the hair stick.

Hair thinning, shedding, and hair loss can suddenly happen to anyone for a variety of reasons. Maybe it’s stress, product, or environment-related, your diet, genetics, or caused by wearing heavy wigs or extensions. The point is, it happens, and you’re still beautiful.

Not going to lie, though, it can still take a toll on one’s confidence. So, if you’re currently experiencing some form of hair loss, and you’d like to cover it up, we’re here to help.

How To Conceal Hair Loss

As most of us in the team have experienced some form of hair loss—excessive hair shedding, thinning hair, and breakage—I consulted each one to find their best tips. The results? Keep scrolling.

1. Switch Your Hair Part

The simplest trick to concealing hair loss couldn’t be more simple. If you find your current part makes your hair look thin, or emphasises a widening part, change it up! It’ll give your mane an instant volume boost. Whether you lean towards the left or right is up to you.

2. Use Hair Extensions

Nothing can give your hair a transformation quite like hair extensions. But, you have to be picky. Hair extensions may sound good on paper, but a lot of them can cause more damage to your natural strands.

The clips, glues, and tapes of hair extensions attach to your actual hair, leading to them pulling, tugging, and weighing your locks down. Over time it can lead to breakage and hair thinning.

Halo extensions are the exception because they sit on your head and don’t add unnecessary pressure to your hair or the roots. There are a variety of thicknesses to choose from to suit your hair goals.

If you want a Halo you can wear every day and make you look like you, but you’er, the Fine Halo is the best. It’s so lightweight you’ll actually forget you’re wearing it.

3. Add Volumising Mousse To Your Styling Routine

A volumising mousse is one of our favourite tricks to give thin hair a helping hand. How? While your hair is damp, apply a ton of mousse, flip your hair over, and start blow drying it. Hello, ’90s supermodel!

Hair mousse is a great product to thicken up your hair because it helps create body and fullness from the root, without having that icky crunchy feeling.

4. Blow Dry Hair With A Round Brush

A round brush is the ultimate hair tool to create lots of volume in your hair. A small-sized round brush will give you tighter curls, while a bigger barrel will give you beautifully thick waves.

To prevent your fine hair from getting tangled while blow drying with a round brush, spritz some heat protectant spray and comb it through. This will evenly distribute the product while getting rid of tangles. Trust us, you don’t want your hair to get stuck in a round brush!

More Tips To Naturally Thicken Hair

While you’re trying our tricks to help conceal hair loss, there’s no reason you can’t work behind the scenes to help quicken hair growth.

Use An Anti-Hair Fall Shampoo

Now’s not the time to go crazy with your hair products. Sticking to tried-and-true hair growth ingredients in your shampoo, like keratin, biotin, salicylic acid, and the like, will help stimulate blood flow to your scalp and encourage more hair to grow.

Avoid overly harsh hair products that contain sulfates and silicones which can dry out your strands and block the follicles from growing.

Avoid Tight Hairstyles

We know you love a “clean girl” bun. But, it might be time to retire it for now because all that tight brushing and pulling is probably what’s causing your thinning hair.

As much as possible, wear your hair down to let it breathe and relax. If you need to tie it up, use a clip or a silk scrunchie so it’s not too tight.

Consider Hair Growth Treatments

Minoxidil is a popular solution for a reason. It’s expert-recommended and proven to boost hair growth. Other popular natural hair growth treatments you may want to look into are rosemary oil, coconut oil, and aloe vera.

Get A Hair Cut

A fresh chop usually means your ends are blunt, and blunt ends can make your hair look instantly thicker.

On another note, regularly getting haircuts is important for hair health. It gets rid of split ends and hair damage, while stimulating hair growth by removing the dead ends.

Wash Your Hair More Often

We know it’s a thing to not wash your hair often. But, layering all that dry shampoo and hairspray can actually cause buildup in your scalp, blocking hair follicles from growing and receiving important nutrients. The result? Thinning hair.

So, if you can, try to wash your hair every other day to cleanse your scalp. Because a healthy scalp, means healthy hair.
